IDM DELIVERS ITS INAUGURAL COUNCILOR DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR NORTH-WEST DISTRICT COUNCIL

The leadership of the North West District Council became the first recipient of IDM’s Councillor Development training this past week. The three day event exposed participants to various leadership topics covering Corporate Governance, Leadership Development, Organizational Strategy Development and Implementation, Fraud Detection and Crime Prevention as well as Personal Branding.

IDM and Choppies sign a Memorandum of Understanding

The Institute of Development Management (IDM) and Choppies Group last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate multiple opportunities for citizens to access training, mentorship and acquisition of technical and practical skills to actively participate in growing the economy.

The Institute of Development Management is based in Kwaluseni providing training, research, and consultancy services. The institute offers long term and short terms programs including diplomas, certificates and degrees in Public health, Business and Information Resours and Human Resources Management.

IDM Partners with SOS Childrens's Village

 The Institute of Development Management (IDM) and SOS have partnered to strengthen their programs and services in early childhood development.  Based on the strength and capabilities of SOS, IDM will, through SOS pre-schools and village facilities in Tlokweng, Serowe and Francistown, provide training resources for Early Childhood Education.
The collaboration marks yet another milestone by IDM to remain part of the social fabric of Botswana in matters pertaining to basic education.

IDM capacitates Councils on Food saftey and Hygiene management skills

As Botswana and the world face an unprecedented threat from the Covid19 pandemic, the Institute of Development Management (IDM) has identified the need to capacitate food handlers with relevant skills to effectively respond to the disease. Recently, the Institute conducted a five day training for schools management in Francistown to equip them with techniques to appreciate and understand the importance of food safety. 

Campus finally re-opens post lockdown

The Institute of Development Management has re-opened its Eswatini campus as of the 13th of July 2020 following the COVID-19 national lockdown period imposed in March 2020. The campus has since resumed with stringent rules and guide lines set including compulsory temperature checks to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Only the final year classes have been allowed to return to class the rest are still supported via online platforms. The Institute of Development Management offers both long and short term training programmes and has released its July/August training courses.

Stakeholder engagement sessions at Eswatini campus

The Business and Information Resources Management and the the Public Health departments took part in stakeholder engagement sessions. These comprised of industry experts, Ministry officials, practitioners and consultants. The current curriculum was discussed in a bid to add value to the programmes offered at IDM. These sessions are also inline with the requirements ESHEC the local governing body for tertiary institutions. These sessions took place early 2020. The Namibia Business School also visited the campus to register its 2020 cohort.

Computer programming bootcamp hosted at IDM

Code Afrique and Cornell University hosts computer programming bootcamp at IDM
IDM hosted students from all over the country who had come to take part in an IT workshop for coding and computer programming. The event was hosted by the STEM foundation, Cornell University (USA), Knowledge Institute, Code Afrique and IDM.
 

IDM Lesotho Opens after Lock down

Today, the 13th of April 2020, IDM Lesotho Campus Opens. This comes after an announcement by Hon. Prime Minister Tom Thabane declared the end of National COVID 19 lockdown on the 5th May. Under clearly stipulated guidelines tabled by the government of Lesotho, IDM has taken precautionary measures that  curb of the spread of the virus with supply of PPE to both Students and Staff, Hand Sanitization, hand washing points, Heat Temperature checking as well as social distancing in  class rooms.
