SAMKELO LUSHABA APPOINTED IDM REGIONAL DIRECTOR & CEO

As its Academic body convenes in Eswatini this week, the Institute of Development Management (IDM) has announced executive leadership changes. As the term for the current Regional Director and Chief Executive, Richard Malikongwa draws to an end, IDM is announcing the appointment of Mr Samkelo Lushaba of Eswatini.

As a tripartite institution, IDM’s position of Regional Director rotates around the three countries of Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini, whose governments founded the Institute in 1974. Botswana held this position from 2016 - 2022 after taking over from a Lesotho national.
A seasoned strategist, Mr Lushaba is bringing a vast experience in Strategic Plan Development and execution, Business Process Reengineering and Organisational Development, joins IDM from the Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO), a wholly state-owned entity established to create, develop and promote Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Kingdom of Eswatini, where he was Senior Manager, Capacity Development and Sector Support. He was responsible for, among others; driving the development and delivery of capacity building interventions within the MSME Sector, strategy and policy development, as well as networking and coordination. Prior to that, Mr Lushaba was Principal Policy Analyst – ICT Governance and Compliance at the Private and Cabinet Office, leading the design and deployment of ICT policies and standards framework within the Government of Eswatini.

In the consultancy, research, training, and education sphere, he worked at the Eswatini Institute for Management & Public Administration for over 12 years, where he served as Head of ICT, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer respectively; providing consultancy services to primarily, the Government of Eswatini. He also offered advisory services with regards to existing and emerging ICT tools and trends to the Government.
Mr Lushaba has a Master of Business Administration from the University of the Witwatersrand (SA) and Emory University (USA) and a Bachelor of Science, Computer Science & Mathematics from the University of Eswatini.
