Botswana Student Activities

At IDM, students’ recreation is one of our top priorities. Our students participate in the national Botswana Tertiary Students Sports Association (BOTESSA) games. BOTESSA is an affiliate of the Confederation of Universities and Colleges of Southern Africa (CUCSA) CUCSA.

Before the COVID 19 pandemic, IDM held annual inter-campus games, giving our students an opportunity to engage and interact beyond the classroom environment. Our inter-campus games feature various sporting codes (indoor and outdoor), and rotate between Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini every year. This approach has afforded our students the opportunity to appreciate the cultural diversity in their different countries as well as the historical commonality of the BLS countries.

IDM also hosts Joint Graduation ceremonies in the three countries rotationally, which in our view goes further to support the service sectors and tourism in the three economies.

On the academic front, we host Student Orientation Day events to welcome new students and familiarize them with the new environment.

Furthermore, IDM through its collaboration with internationally recognised institutions such as Ohio University, Indiana University, University of Bolton and others, hosts students exchange programmes to enhance learning at the same time giving a rich exposure to our students. Additionally, our students get the opportunity to do practicums to be exposed to the real world of work.
