The Business and Information Resources Management and the the Public Health departments took part in stakeholder engagement sessions. These comprised of industry experts, Ministry officials, practitioners and consultants. The current curriculum was discussed in a bid to add value to the programmes offered at IDM. These sessions are also inline with the requirements ESHEC the local governing body for tertiary institutions. These sessions took place early 2020. The Namibia Business School also visited the campus to register its 2020 cohort.

Code Afrique and Cornell University hosts computer programming bootcamp at IDM
IDM hosted students from all over the country who had come to take part in an IT workshop for coding and computer programming. The event was hosted by the STEM foundation, Cornell University (USA), Knowledge Institute, Code Afrique and IDM.
Today, the 13th of April 2020, IDM Lesotho Campus Opens. This comes after an announcement by Hon. Prime Minister Tom Thabane declared the end of National COVID 19 lockdown on the 5th May. Under clearly stipulated guidelines tabled by the government of Lesotho, IDM has taken precautionary measures that curb of the spread of the virus with supply of PPE to both Students and Staff, Hand Sanitization, hand washing points, Heat Temperature checking as well as social distancing in class rooms.
Richard Malikongwa, a seasoned Human Resource and Corporate guru who serves as IDM Regional Director and Chief Executive, was bestowed with the highest award of the World HRD Congress of “Chief Executive Officer with Human Resource Orientation”, while Botswana Country Director, Dr Onalenna Seitio-Kgokgwe received the Women Super Achiever Award from World Women Leadership Congress.The awards were conferred in Mumbai ,India this week. Dr Seitio-Kgokgwe is also a recipient of the 2018/2019 Global CEO Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government Awards.
The Chancellor of the University of Bolton, Earl of St Andrews George Philip Nicholas Windsor has presented Institute of Development Management (IDM) with a special plague to solidify the relationship between the two Institutions.
The gift is engraved the University of Bolton crest and motto, which embodies the spirit of the Institution and the exceptional rapport it has built with IDM over the years.
The Institute of Development Management (IDM) held its graduation ceremony in Lesotho on the 29th November 2019 where close to 1500 graduands were conferred degrees and awarded diplomas and certificates.
The event, which was attended by senior government officials from the three countries of Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini was themed ‘The Future awaits, Own it’ to ignite positive energy among graduates to look forward to a new chapter in their lives.
Student leadership is an integral part of IDM and instrumental in coordinating students issues and concerns. SRC works collectively with Management to find amicable ways of addressing issues and resolving them.
According to Dr Seitio-Kgokgwe, IDM conducts training for SRC to ensure that they execute their role with a high level of responsibility and accountability. On the 12th and 13th of September 2019, IDM conducted training for them to appreciate a lot of areas relating to students welfare and general understanding or processes.
The 2nd annual ground-breaking Gaborone Book Festival (GBF 19) was held at the University of Botswana Conference Centre and Maitisong under the theme #AreBaleng from the 19th – 21st September 2019. As part of developing a culture of reading from grassroots, through the student Knowledge Ambassadors, IDM strategically partnered with GBF to deliver the exciting educational Teen Student Zone to drive this noble initiative, a Social Responsibility agenda.
Under its Travel and Tourism program, IDM is offering hotels, restaurants, individuals and food handlers training on Food Safety and Hygiene Management. The training is designed to help them understand basic food safety and hygiene, and further appraise them on the fundamentals of food laws.
Country Director, Botswana Dr Onalenna Seitio-Kgokgwe revealed that the course is one of the many solutions offered under IDMs Centre for Continuing and Professional Development program.
Dr Onalenna Seitio-Kgokgwe, IDM Country Director says IDM is collaborating with BOLAMA to build capacity and improve livelihoods of BOLAMA beneficiaries through training, research and consultancy. BOLAMA is an association established to uplift lives of current and former migrant mine workers and their families.
