Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) STUDENTS SIM CARDS DISTRIBUTION

IDM has entered a contract with BTC to supply current active IDM students with 1GB of Corporate Internet. Students will use the same Internet being provided to IDM Main Campus, through BTC SIM Cards wherever there are BTC Mobile services. The SIM Cards are loaded with 1GB/day of Internet data and 60 minutes /month of free voice services, and the voice services are limited to the closed IDM SIM Cards group. Know Your Customer (KYC) links were provided for students to fill before they could be given the SIM Cards and so far, more than 3500 students have been issued with the SIM Cards. Two modes of communication were used to communicate with the students in relation to this project, Email and bulk SMS.
 
SIM Cards were distributed from Gaborone Campus SRC Office Main Campus and for Francistown they were collected from the Courtyard. 
 
The project was executed by holding weekly meetings since July with the aim to have issued most students with SIM cards at least by the 06th September 2021 the time when classes commenced.
