IDM Lesotho Campus hosts 13th Joined Graduations
All roads are leading to Manthabiseng Convention Centre on Thursday 28th November 2019 where the Institute of Development Management (IDM) will host its 13th Joint Graduation Ceremony. The event will be held during the morning of 29th November.
Friends, families and well-wishers are expected to grace the occasion and witness the conferment of graduands from Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini. According to the Acting Country Director, IDM Lesotho campus, Dr. Retsélisitsoe Nko, the event is an important feature in IDM’s calendar and will be attended by senior government officials from the three countries.
“We are expecting visitors from Botswana and the beautiful Kingdom of Eswatini to come in big numbers to attend our event which we are celebrating under the theme: The Future Awaits, OWN IT. IDM remains a significant player and trusted partner in areas of training, education, research and consultancy in Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini. We constantly draw strength from our tripartite governments who make us a truly local and regional brand,” said Dr. Nko Alluded.
She further highlighted that the theme will provide them with the opportunity to reflect on the 45 years the Institution has been established, further reminiscing on the ideals that the forefathers of Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini founded IDM on.
“IDM is the brainchild of Sir Seretse Khama of Botswana, King Moshoeshoe I of Lesotho and King Sobhuza II of Eswatini who saw the need to create a talent pool to serve the needs of their people during the post-colonial era. As we confer accolades to graduands on this day, we also want to remember our founding fathers for the wisdom and vision they displayed when they conceived an idea to form a regional institution. Indeed IDM has made a notable contribution in the development of these nations and the SADC region as a whole,” she shared.
She also stated that as they recognize and celebrate academic excellence, they are equally proud of the support they continue to give the three countries around human capital, adding “our programme offering responds to needs of our markets. Our training is aligned to the national agendas of our three countries.”
For his part, IDM Regional Director, Richard Malikongwa said: “I am particularly gratified that we are bringing together our three countries, this time in Lesotho, with the hope of making a positive impact in the economic activity of the Kingdom. Lesotho is important to us and our ambition is to grow in line with our strategic intents.”
