Thousands of women from all corners of Eswatini descended at the Hlane Royal residence for the festival from the 9th-11th of March 2018.  IDM Lutsango (women) also attended this year’s installment of the Buganu ceremony a cultural festival held for married women annually in Eswatini. The Buganu ceremony has been around for a very long time, it comes once a year in the months of February and March. It takes place in the two major regions of the country were the “buganu” Marula fruit is found in abundance. The locations for the ceremonies are  Buhleni Royal Residence and Hlane Royal Residence.

Indvuna yelutsango (leader of the women’s traditional group on campus) Ntombi Groening said, “I loved the fact that we got to dance along side the Royal family for two days as we only get to see them in the newspapers or TV. This time they were close to us and we got to interact with them. I also appreciate that women from rural areas of the country are able to make money from the event as they sell goods made from the Marula fruit. I am also happy that as IDM we are able to heed to their Majesties call as per our IDM strategy to align to national agendas in the BLS region.”
