IDM Sponsors Moremogolo Prize Giving Ceremony
The Moremogolo Primary School in Francistown, celebrated its annual prize-giving ceremony on the 20th September 2024, under the theme, “Mind Set Change: Promoting Growth through Hard Work.” Officiating at the event, IDM Francistown Campus Manager Elijah Moakofhi acknowledged the achievement of learners, encouraging them to always ‘shoot the stars.’
“I believe we are very much aware that today we are celebrating the success of our learners. Their achievement should motivate other students to work hard and do their best with their studies,” Mr. Moakofhi remarked. He commended the school for its remarkable impact and expressed gratitude to the Moremogolo Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for the continuous support they render the school.
He acknowledged the significant contributions of the community. “It is time we acknowledge the outstanding work done by the community in immensely contributing to these great results.” He highlighted the dedication and sacrifices of community leaders, which have positively influenced the performance of the students.
“I am pleased that we are celebrating the achievement of young people who have a long way to go in their lives. This is because young people carry our hope for a better tomorrow,” he added, encouraging parents to collaborate with the school to promote the day’s theme.
He emphasized that the students’ journey was just beginning, assuring them, “This country is looking at you with keen interest and places you in high regard.” He urged students to continue their effort, cautioning them against the temptations of drugs. “Results are but a partial reflection of learner achievement,” he explained, noting that they do not encompass all of a student’s potential.
Mr. Moakofhi expressed appreciation for the teachers’ dedication, stating, “It is not an easy task to instil knowledge, mold, and nurture a child into a well-rounded individual under the current social ills and challenges they face.” He recognized their hard work, sweat, and self-discipline, calling them “the Pillars of the Nation.” As a token of appreciation, IDM presented the school with a Laser Jet printer to support their library needs.
In her welcome address, School Head Ms. K. M. Chilume reported an impressive improvement in performance, with overall results rising from 63.2% in previous years to 83.7%. She acknowledged the PTA’s crucial role in this progress and noted the awards given to 159 pupils across various categories, including best in each subject and most improved.
Senior Education Officer Mr. Golebaone Raditladi also provided motivation for the students, reminding them that “for you to be able to achieve anything, you must trust in yourself and aspire to pass like others. Believe that nothing is impossible.” He emphasized the importance of parents in ensuring their children are well-rested and encouraged them to engage in their children's education.
“We need unity between teachers, parents, and students to get the best performance as a school,” he urged. He reassured students who did not perform well that they should not despair but keep pushing forward while encouraging high achievers to aim even higher. “I applaud teachers, keep on helping the students and encouraging them,” he concluded.
The ceremony served as a celebration of hard work and a collective commitment to fostering an environment where every child can succeed.
