In an effort to take its products and services to students, IDM has embarked on career fair discussions in secondary schools around the country.  The purpose of the fairs is to engage and prepare learners to make meaningful career choices for the future as they prepare to exit the senior secondary stage.
IDM Marketing team at the Francistown campus recently visited several schools including Moeng College, Matshekge Hill School, Selebi-Phikwe Senior Secondary School, and Mmadinare Senior School. The events were highly successful, attracting enthusiastic participation from students.
"Career fairs not only inspire and inform students about the diverse opportunities available at IDM, but they also get to engage with Marketing teams intimately to understand and appreciate different programs available and the types of career paths they may choose to follow," said Elijah Moakofhi, IDM Francistown Campus Manager.
The career fairs set the tone for the week with a lively and engaging start, with students eager to explore the various academic programs and career pathways offered by the Institute.
In a participatory process, students were provided with information and also got the opportunity to ask questions about specific programs and career options during the career counselling sessions.
The team provided personalized advice, helping students align their interests and strengths with potential career paths.
The enthusiasm and participation from students was remarkable as this opened their horizons to many available products to help them see the next stage of their career lives. The sessions further allowed students to clarify any doubts and gain deeper insights into their fields of interest.
Moakofhi said the fairs presented an excellent opportunity for Tertiary institutions to successfully bridge the gap between secondary education and higher education aspirations for students.
"This initiative supports IDM’s commitment to education and community engagement, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to explore and achieve their full potential," he concluded.
