IDM Celebrates Botswana’s 58th Independence Day

The Institute of Development Management (IDM) celebrated Botswana's 58th Independence Day with cultural pride and great enthusiasm at it’s Gaborone and Francistown campuses. The day was marked by splendid traditional games, vibrant attire, and a feast of Setswana cuisine, bringing employees together in a spirit of unity and celebration.

Engaging traditional games were a curtain raiser to the festivities. These included morabaraba, mhele, bolo ya dithini, chama, diketo and many others. Colleagues participated enthusiastically, showcasing a wealth of skill, at the same time deepening their connections outside the normal work environment. The games not only provided entertainment but also highlighted a rich and unique cultural history of Botswana. They further fostered a sense of companionship among participants.

Clad in stunning and colourful traditional regalia, employees added to the vibrant atmosphere of the day. Their colourful attire, mostly ‘leteisi’ reflected the diversity and beauty of Botswana’s cultural foundation, creating a visual tapestry that celebrated the nation's identity.

A traditional meal was served, featuring an impressive display of local dishes that delighted the palate and brought everyone together. Staff enjoyed favourites such as dikgobe, seswaa, bogobe jwa lerotse, delele, koko ya Setswana, morogo wa Setswana, ginger and various stews, creating a communal dining experience that embodied the spirit of sharing and togetherness.

The celebrations were a true sentiment of the resilience and progress Botswana has made over the years. The day not only honoured the nation's history but also reinforced the values of community and unity among the IDM family members.

Overall, the 58th Independence Day celebration was a purposeful occasion, reflecting the pride and joy of being a nation that cherishes its past and looks towards a bright future.
