Bakani Abednico Thothe is Assistant Director, Academic Services with 27 years of experience in the education and training space. During this time he was exposed to among others teaching project management, customer service, compliance and capacity building, attributes which will support and drive the IDM mandate of education, training, research and consultancy. Mr. Thothe’s recent appointment was with Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA and formerly Botswana Training Authority) as Director of Quality Assurance, where he led the registration, accreditation, and quality assurance functions, ensuring effective regulation of the education and training providers. He has spent 18 years with BQA where he started as a Trainer Registration Specialist and held several positions that includes, Manager, Compliance and Monitoring, Capacity Building Officer and Customer Service Manager. Mr Thothe began his career as a Science Teacher with then Department Teaching Service Management in 1996 and joined the then Botswana College of Distance and Open Learning where he worked as an Examinations Officer in 2004. Mr. Thothe was until February 2023 a Member of Southern Africa Commonwealth of Learning Community of Practice for Quality Assurance Agencies. He was also a Member of Botswana Accounting Oversight Authority (BAOA) Education and Training Committee of the Board. An ISO Certified Quality Auditor and SAQA Certified Assessor, Mr. Thothe will provide sound leadership skills to a multi-disciplinary team of consultants within the Institute to ensure delivery of quality teaching, and learning education. He holds Master of Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, Graduate Certificate in Management from Australian Institute of Business, Post Graduate Diploma in LawCompliance from University of Johannesburg, Certificate for Distant Education Practitioners and a Bachelor of Education (Science) from the University of Botswana.
