Francistown Campus Manager, Elijah Moakofhi has commended Gungwe Primary School for attaining a 100% pass rate in the 2022 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE). Speaking at an event held to celebrate the school achievement recently, Mr Moakofhi noted that the school emerged the winner despite competing with private schools in the region.

“I am informed that you are the only government institution in this inspectorate amongst private schools, but you nailed it! Your achievement is a sign of commitment and dedication by all stakeholders,” he said, applauding the community for also coming to the party to support the school in producing best results.

Mr Moakofhi revealed that as part of its mandate, IDM promotes the development of education particularly at the early stage to build a strong foundation, positively influencing desired future leaders. He mentioned IDM’s programme of Early Childhood Development which supports the government vision of a knowledge-based economy.

Principal Education Officer, Mr Seiphimolo R. Mahube on the other hand encouraged teachers at Gungwe Primary School to continue putting more effort to maintain and even exceed the good performance they have scored. He said it takes teamwork to achieve great results as evidenced by the overall achievement. His message to pupils was that their attainment of the 100% pass mark was a high standard they had set for themselves, which meant they needed to work hard in their next phase of junior secondary school.

“I implore you to aim high and shoot the stars. Along the way, you will meet challenges. Stay focused and do not be dissuaded by peer pressure and social ills. Always refer to the good advice you have received from your teachers and parents,” he said.

For her part, the School Head, Ms Ntombizodwa Kuswane said they were both proud and excited for their remarkable achievement, which she added was a result of teamwork, hard work and commitment by all key players.

Gungwe Primary School is reportedly the only school to pass with a 100% pass rate in the Northern Region.

Congratulations to all!!!
