Dr Onalenna Seitio-Kgokgwe is the Country Director. She has over 2 decades experience as a practitioner, nurse educator, trainer and leader. Whilst in the Botswana Public Service, she coordinated the Healthcare Leadership Management Development Programme to improve the quality of leadership for efficient service delivery in the health sector.  A registered nurse, midwife and nurse practitioner, Dr Kgokgwe has worked at Institute of Health Sciences as Senior Lecturer, and later appointed Head of Department, before assuming the position of Deputy Principal. Most of her work life she led Botswana Family Nurse Practitioners programme where she was instrumental in enhancing the programme to position Botswana as Centre of Excellence in Nurse Practitioner training and Primary Health where countries across and beyond the African continent benchmarked best practice.

Dr Kgokgwe obtained her Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) from Johns Hopkins University in the USA, Master of Public Health from University of Limpopo, South Africa, a PhD in Public Health from the University of Otago in New Zealand and an Honorary Doctorate from University of Bolton in the UK. A fellow of the Afya Bora Global Health Leadership programme, Dr Kgokgwe’s research interest is in the areas of health system performance, health sector reforms, health services and policy. She has authored and reviewed a number of articles in international journals.

In 2018 & 2019 she received several awards from CEO Global. She was named Africa's Most Influential Woman in Business and Government, both at Country and Regional level.
