Purchas- ing and supply is now recognized as a value adding activity able to make consid- erable contribution to the bottom line. Organizations in the public and the private sectors are increasingly turning to professional supply chain measures and proce- dures to reduce costs and utilize internal resources efficiently. Consequently, it is important that purchasing and supply personnel are made aware of the measures designed to promote purchasing and mate- rials management as a critical function in organizations.
